Nesli Akkol holds a Bachelor's degree in Media and Film from the University of Istanbul and a Master's degree in Marketing Communications from California State University, San Bernardino. She recently earned her certificate in "Leadership in Arts Fundraising" from the University of Leeds.
Before assuming her role as the Institutional Giving Officer at the American Film Institute (AFI), Nesli held leadership positions at various human services and arts nonprofits in Los Angeles. Since 2010, she has been actively involved with the esteemed nonprofit movie theatre, the American Cinematheque, where she provides pro bono assistance with their grant writing and event publicity activities. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Alcott Center for Mental Health Services as the Secretary of the Board. She also owns a bilingual blog to explore Los Angeles through meaningful connections.
